    EAPG
    is shorthand for Early American Pattern Glass, which is also known simply as 'pattern glass', 'pressed glass', or 'Victorian glass'. It is generally pressed glass tableware sets and novelty items with embossed or intaglio patterns made during the Victorian period ca. 1850-1910, by hundreds of glass factories. EAPG includes many different types of glass such as crystal (flint), opalescent, cased and custard. Some Crystal is decorated with Ruby Flash or Ruby Stain; some Custard with Blue or Nutmeg Stain; both may have Gilt trim and/or accents. In the case of 'Goofus' glass, items may be either all-over painted or just pattern-painted. Cased glass may be satinized and/or quilted. EAPG was succeeded by iridized 'Carnival Glass' (1907-1930s), and then in the 1930s and 40s by what is now referred to as 'Depression Glass'.
    Ruby-Stain
    was the least costly way of obtaining a red color for glassware. The staining material was painted onto annealed glass, wherever it was desired, and then fired on for permanency. This allowed one factory to produce the glass items and sell them to various decorating companies, where different portions of the pattern could be stained.
    Ruby Glass
    involved a gold-solution formula that produced glass that was red all the way through, but was a very costly production.
    Ruby-Flashed
    glass involves coating clear crystal with a small bit of Ruby Glass and then blowing or pressing into the desired shape, thus mimicking Ruby Glass at a lower production cost.
    Excellent Antique Condition
    means that a
    listed
    item has no discernible post-production damage but may have one or more of the following issues related to the production methods and conditions in the early 1900s: air bubbles not squeezed out by hand-pressing; inclusions of ash or debris from dirty conditions;
    strands of undissolved colorant; lines called
    straw marks where molten glass was snipped with cool metal shears from the gathering rod, hardened immediately and mixed into the glass like dried paint; marks from shaping tools used to form the edge; mould issues such as incomplete or malformed edges,
    rough seams, extra glass at seams, webbed, incomplete or pulled edge points; cooling issues such as
    uneven legs or a bowed base causing rocking; heat checks which are internal separations from uneven cooling or burst air bubbles, etc. While these issues may be undesirable, they do not qualify as "damage".
    Combined Shipping
