Huge Vintage Lot of Macrame Olefin Fiber Braiding Cord 5, 7 Ply Heavyweight New.
Huge lot of vintage macrame products. Nice assortment of thicknesses and colors. I don’t know much (anything) about macrame, so I will do my best to be super descriptive and hopefully those of you who know these products will be able to decipher my gibberish.
There are 14 items in this lot. 7 of them are brand new, never used. 3 of them have most of their material in the roll. And the rest are around less than 50% (guesstimation). My understanding of ply is it is the number of individual cords that overall cord is made from. Anyone who knows lots about this stuff and likes to teach, feel free to send me an email with information! It would be greatly appreciated.
1x brand new 129 ft roll of Vanont Company Limited Rust colored 7 ply No 48 Made in Thailand
1x brand new Tan colored 530ft (176 yds.) Bulky Calcutta Cord 100% poly-olefin fiber (hard to tell..for me.. but looks like 3 ply)
3x Brand new Earth Things Purple 5 ply 70 yards 5mm macrame jute made in Taiwan
1x The House of Rope Macrocord texturized polypropylene black colored 50 yards (possibility that it is new, but end has been cut, so not entirely sure)
1x brand new macrame and braiding cord 150 yards 100% olefin heavy weight 10 ply (some uncertainty here because there was a misprint on the label, so the seller had added some handwritten numbers to label) Multi colored, but predominantly all reddish tones.
1x used macrame and braiding cord 100% olefin heavy weight 10 ply. Multi colored, but predominantly all reddish tones. Not sure on the length, even though it is exactly the same as the roll above, it is not wrapped around a spindle. Nice thick ball that is 6” in diameter, so lots of material to work with.
1x used macrame cord. Brown/tan colored. 4 ply. This one seems somewhat coarser than the other materials listed so far. Not sure on length, but it is about 6” in diameter, so also a lot of material to use here.
1x used dark brown cord. This is 4 play and feels like an in between texture between the softness of the reddish cord and the roughness of the previous brown/tan cord. This roll appears to have been mostly used (unless it just didn’t start with a whole lot on it). Hard to say, but over 50 yards and probably less than 100 yards.
1x used macrame(?) cord. Reddish orange colored. Flat and wide appearance, especially compared to the rounder appearance of the previous cords. Can’t tell the ply because there is what appears to be a twine like supposed intertwined between the cords themselves. Not sure on the length of this one at all.
1x green colored macrame cord. Almost gone. 10-15 yards left at the most. 4 ply. Fairly soft texture
1x used rope like cord. Not sure if this is for macrame or not. Very heavy duty if it is. 5 ply. Light brown color. Lots and lots of it in this roll. About 7” in diameter.
1x ribbon like stuff. Pink. 15 feet or so.
